Dive virgin remote sites around Dahab. Dive protected areas!!!
Ras Abu Galoum:
Ras Abu Galoum is named after the trees growing at the base of the mountains (Galoum). It is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) north of Dahab; a Jeep to the Blue Hole dive site, then an hour and half by camels!
This small fishing village is inhabited by a few Bedouin families and is a Managed Resource Protected Area. It has extensive sand dunes, high mountains, and a broad coast. Thanks to its beautiful sandy beaches, clear blue lagoon, and scattered pinnacles, it is ideal for both diving and snorkeling. It's not uncommon for a curious turtle to come for a closer look or a ray to glide gracefully overhead.
Leaving Dahab at sunrise, we journey by Jeeps until we reach the famous Blue Hole. That's where we meet our team of Bedouin guides and camels. Once the dive equipment is loaded on the camels, we start the 90 minutes camel ride to the first dive site. After the dive, there’s time to chill out on the beach. Lunch is served then the second dive begins. As the sun starts to go down over the mountains we ride the camels back to the Blue Hole and return to Dahab by sunset.
Gabr El Bint:
Gabr El Bint means "grave of girl" in Arabic. Actually the grave is deep in the valley above the dive site. It is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Dahab; a Jeep to pass the dirt road south of the Caves dive site, then an hour and half by camels!
Gabr El Bint is abundant with stunningly-rich marine life and offers wall diving, vivid coral gardens, and gentle sandy slopes with coral outcrops. The site is famous for its forest of gigantic sea fans (gorgonians), and is definitely a site not to be missed. The southern side of the reef has an impressive grotto starting at 7 meters (23 feet) and going down till 23 meters (75 feet).
Like Ras Abu Galoum safari, we leave Dahab at sunrise and journey by Jeeps heading south until we meet our team of Bedouin guides and camels. Once the dive equipment is loaded on the camels, we start the 90 minutes camel ride to the first dive site. After the dive, there’s time to chill out on the beach. Lunch is served then the second dive begins. As the sun starts to go down over the mountains we ride the camels back to their "parking", then we ride the Jeeps so that we return to Dahab by sunset.
